Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make my first appointment and what to expect?
Recognizing that each individual has unique needs and expectations, Affirming Approach works to ensure we are the right "fit" for you. Before we schedule your first appointment, we will schedule a phone consultation to discuss your needs and whether we both agree working together will be a good match. If we both would like to move forward, we will schedule your first appointment. There is no charge for this initial phone consultation.
For therapy clients: Prior to your first appointment, you will receive an email with intake paperwork. This paperwork will assist us in getting to know you and allow us to use our first session to explore your needs and goals. In this first session, we will discuss your questions, experiences, personal and family history as well as your expectations for therapy. It often takes time to build trust and a strong therapeutic relationship, so feel free to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with in this first sessions.
What days and hours are appointments available?
Therapy sessions are typically available Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Other scheduling options may be available. Please email or call for more information.
Consulting availability is flexible to meet the needs of the organization. Please email or call for more information.
How many therapy sessions will I have?
Therapy is an individualized process. At Affirming Approach we may make recommendations for the duration and frequency of visits, but we ultimately believe that you have the capacity to know if and when to conclude therapy. We recognize that for some, this may be a long-term commitment to self-care and wellness, and for others, this may be short-term commitment to manage an individual crisis, concern, or struggle.
Are my services confidential?
At Affirming Approach, we are committed to your privacy. We adhere to HIPAA privacy standards and all information shared with us will remain confidential. We will only share the information you have approved with the individuals which you have completed a Release of Information. During our first session we will go over our Privacy Policy which provides additional information on how we protect your privacy.
